The Executive Office for Immigration Review recently announced several significant immigration law updates.

Following a February 28 decision by the Board of Immigration Appeals, lawful permanent residents facing removal or deportation by virtue of a plea or conviction may now apply for discretionary relief if they meet certain criteria including seven consecutive years of lawful unrelinquished domicile in the U.S.  Determining factors in relief eligibility also include the date of the convictions, the aggregate term served and the type of convictions, among other conditions.

Detailed information on the ruling and changes can be found here on the AILA South Florida website.
